Unattractive liberals

Been awhile since I've written a post that will really annoy and offend people.  Here goes...

 

There is a cafe in my fair little city that caters to the local liberal crowd.  It is unabashedly liberal with slogans written on the walls and abundent opportunities to donate to a myriad of worthy, ridiculous, or both causes.

 

I spent a long morning there the other day.  The coffee was reasonably good and the muffin wasn't bad.  I was in there working (actually this time) for about 5 hours or so.  I was seated towards the back of the place but facing the door so I got a good look at the clientele.  I must have seen 100 or so different people come through the door.  What became really noticeable by say my 3rd hour there was that almost all of the clientele were physically unattractive.  This was true of both women and men.  Some were just a bit unattractive, others were really unattractive; but the theme was very clear. 

 

Now I spend alot of time in cafes in my fair city.  Most of them are not overtly political in any way, so they probably get a pretty varied clientele.  I have definitely never noticed this phenomenon before.  In fact, I am usually pretty impressed by the attractiveness of many of the young women who frequent these places.  

 

Ok, so what is the point?  First, it seems that the median level of physical beauty amongst liberals is less than that among a general population sampling of people of all political bents. Does being ugly make someone more likely to have a liberal philosophy?   Actually, it makes a lot of sense, particularly if we are talking about some of the more ridiculous liberal ideas.  Physical unattrativeness = lack of self-confidence = desire for revenge against the beautiful (couched as the "rich" or the "system" or the "capitalists" or whatever) = crazy liberal philosophy?

 

Anyway, I thought it was interesting.
