Call me a party killer if you like but I am at a complete loss to understand this issue of the 2 journalists just released by North Korea at the personal intercession of Bill Clinton. The US handed North Korea a nice propaganda coup and generally looked weak as it sends an ex-President hat in hand to beg for the release of these 2 women.
Where is the the self-responsibility? If you are a journalist, and you chase a story into North Korea, and you are subsequently caught and imprisoned, then that is the consequence of the risk you chose to take. These women were experienced journalists, one of which had previously gone under cover into Iran. They no doubt understood the risk of sneaking into North Korea more fully than either you or I and they chose to go. This was a brave act and no doubt had they pulled it off without getting caught they would have had a great story and perhaps made some money as well. My point is that I have no problem with what they did, my problem is with the US government taking overt action to save them. They took a huge risk and lost. That should have been the end of the story.
By the way, they work for a news organization owned by Al Gore, so I guess that is the real explanation.
Also by the way, I feel exactly the same about the American "hikers" caught recently in Iran.
