Anyone who has lived in China will know that the Chinese world is filled with 2 types of people, those who can drink a lot of alcohol and those who physically can't drink at all.   Found this great map (on James Fallows site) of the distribution of people with the genetic condition that causes the very common alcohol allergy. 

I've never lived in Hong Kong but judging from the map, it isn't much of a party spot for the locals.
